DIY : Mosquito Spray

We spend a lot of time in Bali and over there you have to be mindful about mosquitos as it's not uncommon with Dengue there. The only proven mosquito cream to prevent 'dengue mosquitos' is DEET, which you should keep away from plastic, as it melts it! Also don't apply it with freshly painted nails because it melts nail polish too! So not that encouraging to put on your skin, but sometimes you just don't have a choice.

With summer, along comes the mosquitos even in less tropical climates and they might not carry Dengue but they sure are annoying. We have been looking for a natural substitute for DEET for a while but haven't really found much that works so this article by The Spirit Science caught our attention and thought we'd share it with you.

You'll need a bottle to put it in, they recommend a travel bottle or a spritzer bottle (8oz/200ml)

- Fill 1/2 the bottle with distilled or (cooled down) boiled water
- Fill the other 1/2 with Witch Hazel
- Add 30 to 50 drops of preferred essential oil/s. They mention citronella, lavender, eucalyptus and clove. The essential oils they mention to be as effective or more effective than DEET are: cinnamon, citronella, lemon, eucalyptus and catnip

That's it! Super easy. Stay away little blood suckers :)
